On-site simultaneous translation
At Talent Intérpretes, we have a wide range of professional interpreting services suitable for different events, meetings, and conferences:
Simultaneous interpreting:
Perfect for large conferences and events; it is a type of interpreting that allows communication to flow in real-time. There is no interruption of the speech. To get a clear understanding: the speaker talks in English while the interpreter translates into Spanish and vice-versa, all at the same time. Participants only need to select the appropriate channel to hear the message in their preferred language. For this type of interpreting, soundproof booths or a portable sound system (called infoport), are used, together with what is known as “earpieces” or “translation headsets”.
Bilateral interpreting (Liaison):
Perfect for negotiations, audits, and meetings with few participants. The speaker pauses the dialogue (every two or three sentences) so the interpreter can translate. Sound equipment is not usually used, unless the event takes place in a noisy location (in which case the infoport would be used due to its flexibility) or if the event involves movement, where “earpieces” would also be used to facilitate communication and ensure the speaker doesn’t have to raise their voice.
Consecutive interpreting:
Suitable for speeches, official meetings, and presentations. The speaker pauses every four or five sentences. In this type of interpreting, unlike bilateral interpreting, special note-taking by the interpreter is involved, as the sentences tend to be longer.
Chuchotage (Whispered interpreting):
The interpreter translates by whispering the speaker’s message into the participants’ ears. This modality is suitable for private meetings and small groups when discreet and precise interpreting is required.
Sworn interpreting:
Required when legal validity is needed, for example, in trials, police stations, civil registries, etc. The sworn interpreter is accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this modality, the interpreter certifies that everything said is translated faithfully to the original speech.
With sound equipment:
This involves providing booths and/or infoport to ensure clear and effective communication at any event. Generally, sound equipment like booths or infoport system is used for simultaneous interpreting. However, sometimes, to ensure greater comfort (especially during factory or warehouse visits, etc.), infoport can be used as it provides flexibility and greater ease in communication. Booths are typically used more for conferences and official events where no movement is required.
